SVMT, as technical association, offers its members free access to essential technical and scientific information, participation in the SVMT-network, professional help at the start and during the career and an essential, personal benefit from instructive conferences, seminars, workshops and visits (organized by SVMT) at a reduced fee. Attracted by the network between industry and academia, materials science students from EPFL and ETH Zürich as well as applied universities have joined SVMT, which has led to a well-balanced age distribution among its members. The active participation (and sponsoring) from industry and academia has allowed to continue activities with high public perception, such as international conferences and workshops. SVMT is member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, SATW and member of the Federation of the European Materials Societies, FEMS.
