SVMT courses

Metallography
This workshop (in German) is open to technicians and engineers. The course is held annually in October and is dedicated to solving problems which frequently surface in industry. The last editions focused on: 2007: Materials preparation for structural examination
2008: Surface analysis and new microscopy techniques
2009: Titanium, Aluminium and Magnesium alloys
2010: Metallography for the aerospace industry
Surface engeneering and caracterisation
This 2 to 3 day course, held every two years since 2007, is dedicated to technicians and engineers who would like to improve and enlarge their knowledge with recent technical and scientific inputs within their working area. This is a course whose topics evolve with the growing requirements of
the industry. Previous courses were dedicated to:
2007: Coating and surface analysis
2009: 100 years thermal spraying
2011: Ceramic coatings and surfaces
Biomaterials
Seminars on different topics of "Biomaterials" are hold in intervals of approximately one year. The focus of these seminars (in German) covers the materials properties, requirements, applications up to the registration and is addressed to technicians, engineers as wells as representatives of the marketing and does not requires an academic background. The topics have been:

2009: Non degradable polymers in medical applications
2010: Resorbable polymers for the medical technology
2011: Coatings in medical technology
Corrosion and Tribology
The first edition of this meeting was held on 27. November 2008 in collaboration with Swiss Tribology. the Swiss Society for Surface Technology (SGO) and was supported by the «Bildungs- und Forschungs-Fond» of the Swiss Association of Lubricants Industry (VSS). Details about future events like this one will be announced as soon as a date is decided.
"Steel - Innovation carrier"
Following the numerous demands from SVMT members, a first course dedicated to the fabrication, properties and applications of the new generation of stainless steels was held in 2009. It was designed for technical laboratory staff, technicians and scientists from industry and academia. Depending on demand a new event in this field will be planed. |
